Text message marketing is being used widely by many companies. They create a simple text message and send it out to their customer base for a number of reason such as asking them to complete a questionnaire about the service they received, informing them of a new product or service or asking them to enter competitions for example.

If the customers have opted in to receive messages from such companies then text message marketing can work quite well as long as you get the balance right and do not send them out too frequently, but for those that have not agreed to receive messages and their details may have been sold on to third parties, very often this can just frustrate people.

When using this form of marketing, always make sure that your data is genuine and you have had permission to contact the people on your list. When sending out a message keep it short and to the point as often people will just delete an advertising message that is too long without even reading it.
